It’s been a week since Leeds United sacked Jesse Marsch and they still haven’t appointed his permanent successor.
The Whites have seen Andoni Iraola and Arne Slot snub a chance to join the Whites as they want to continue at Rayo Vallecano and Feyenoord respectively.
Last weekend, Iraola stressed he has not changed his stance on leaving the La Liga side for Leeds. Rayo sporting director David Cobeño has also insisted the manager won’t leave the club.
Iñigo Pérez, the 40-year-old’s assistant, has joined his compatriot and Rayo chief to insist Iraola will not be leaving the club amid interest from the Premier League side.
Pérez made this claim during an interview with Movistar LaLiga, where he was specifically asked about Leeds interest in Iraola, something he believes is natural.
“When the team is doing so well, everyone stands out and in this case it was Andoni, but we have to keep trying to score points and achieve the first goal,” he said, relayed by Unión Rayo.
Rayo are sixth in the table and in contention to qualify for a European competition next season.
Meanwhile, reports in the Dutch press are stating Alfred Schreuder is the top candidate for the vacant job at Leeds.
