Arsenal are reportedly close to signing Valencia’s Skhodran Mustafi in a €41m deal.
The Gunners took some time to assess the transfer market after injuries to several players, but it now appears they’ve secured the signing of the German international.
However, reports in Spain suggest Arsenal had to battle it out against another Premier League club for Mustafi.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool were also interested in signing the 24-year-old, but Arsene Wenger ‘fought hand to hand’ to secure his signing.
Mundo Deportivo say Mustafi should complete his move to Arsenal today, except for a surprise delay.
Frankly, we’re not too sure if Liverpool were really keen on signing Mustafi, as the Reds don’t play in any European competition this season and have already signed a couple of centre-backs this summer.
