Arsenal’s Kieran Tierney has been on loan at Real Sociedad since the summer and has made 11 appearances in all competitions this season.
The left-back was sidelined for close to two months between October and November with a hamstring injury and that forced him to miss nine games for the Spanish club.
Mundo Deportivo claim the La Liga side don’t have an option or obligation to make the Arsenal owned player’s stay permanent.
The San Sebastian club are aware it will be difficult to keep the 26-year-old beyond this season.
It’s stated La Real didn’t want to include a purchase option because the fee Mikel Arteta’s side wanted to include was ‘exorbitant’.
The Gunners wanted the Scotland international to join a Champions League club, in order to make profit from his sale next summer. Mundo point out the north London club paid €27m to buy the fullback from Celtic in 2019.
As well as Arsenal’s demands, it’s said Tierney’s salary request would also be a problem for Real Sociedad.
They aren’t in favour of offering high wages to a left-back, who it’s stated hasn’t settled in well and hasn’t shown his best level so far.
Mundo say Tierney’s stay could end after this season, unless Arsenal decide to extend the loan deal for one more season.
Real Sociedad’s refusal to meet financial demands and his form this season could impact Arsenal’s plan to make profit from Tierney’s sale next summer.
