Earlier today, we’ve seen Portuguese newspaper Record claiming that Nuno Tavares’ move from Benfica to Arsenal was now a matter of ‘hours’.
It was claimed the negotiations have advanced in a way they won’t collapse anymore, as the player had his bags packed and the clubs now sort the final details for a fee.
Now it turns out Record isn’t the only local newspaper who’s confident of a deal. A short story from A Bola is also sure that the full-back is on his way to the Emirates Stadium.
The outlet writes that Benfica have accepted the offer from Arsenal, and the transfer could be done still today.
The Gunners reportedly put on the table a bid of €8m up front plus €2m in bonuses, which is already being called by Portuguese reports as a ‘global deal of €10m’.
A Bola adds that Tavares will earn three times more at Arsenal, and could be flying ‘in the coming hours’ to have his medicals.
Tavares joined Benfica at the age of 15. After going through several youth levels, he had 41 appearances for the first team, and had been a back-up option for the left-back position this season.
Record says he’s signing a five-year deal with the Gunners.
