Gabriel Martinelli’s incredible start at Arsenal has obviously not gone unnoticed in his home country, especially after having scored two goals against Liverpool last night.
Now the Brazilian press starts comparing his start in England with other stars who have done well in their first matches after moving to Europe.
UOL brings a story today showing that by scoring seven goals in his first 400 minutes, the youngster matches Ronaldo Nazário with the best record, from the legend’s time at PSV.
The duo is later followed by the likes of Romário, Jardel and Bebeto, all with five goals each. Careca and Gabriel Jesus, who was highly praised for his start at Manchester City in 2017, had four each.
Other big names such as Rivaldo and Alexandre Pato only scored two goals in their first 400 minutes in Europe, while Ronaldinho and Neymar only had one each.
That shows how impressive Martinelli has been in his start for the Gunners, even though he’s still to score in the Premier League, where he’s played for only 45 minutes so far.
Gabriel Martinelli signed for Arsenal on a €6.7m deal from non league side Ituano last summer. From his seven goals so far, three of them were scored in the Europa League and the other two in the League Cup.
