Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has turned down a move to Arsenal after the Gunners made a tentative €70m bid for the Argentine.

That’s according to Sport Mediaset, who say the striker isn’t interested in a move to England this summer.

Martinez was sensationally linked with Arsenal yesterday, with it believed those in charge at the Emirates had sensed an opportunity to get a player they had thought was unavailable.

Reports in England indicated there was increasing confidence at Arsenal they could get their man, but Sport Mediaset pour cold water on that.

They say that Arsenal made an ‘empty attempt’ for Martinez, with Inter rejecting the Gunners’ €70m offer for his services.

Even if they had accepted, they would not have been able to convince the Argentine to make the move to England.

He ‘would have refused’ Arsenal because he is not interested in an experience in the Premier League, especially if he wouldn’t be playing in the Champions League.

Indeed, according to SM’s English sources, Martinez ‘would not be willing’ to move from Inter unless ‘important offers’ arrive from the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona or Atlético Madrid.

He is not interested in dealing with other clubs and would prefer to stay with the Nerazzurri.
