Arsenal are one of the clubs credited with interest in Real Madrid’s Víctor Valdepeñas.
Earlier this week, ESPN reported Arsenal, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund are all closely monitoring the 19-year-old.
Bild now back up Arsenal’s interest when covering the latest on BVB’s plans to sign the defender.
Xabi Alonso handed him his first team debut in Real Madrid’s win over Deportivo Alaves at the weekend.
Valdepeñas, who can also operate as a centre-back, started at left-back. Alonso gave him an opportunity due to injuries and suspension to other players.
Borussia Dortmund believe the youngster would find it difficult to enjoy regular minutes with the La Liga side. The Bundesliga side would like to open their door for him.
It won’t be easy for BVB because of Mikel Arteta’s side and Bayer Leverkusen. These two clubs are battling with Borussia Dortmund to try and secure the teenager’s services.
It’s claimed the Gunners and Bayer Leverkusen are ‘working hard behind the scenes’, likely to overcome competition from BVB, to sign Valdepeñas.
The Spain U19 international has a contract until 2029. Arsenal will have convince him and Real Madrid to win the ongoing transfer battle.
