Towards the end of last year, there were reports explaining that Arsenal Women have shown interest in Benfica star Cloé Lacasse.
Jonas Eidevall’s side are still in the picture to sign the 29-year-old and a deal to take her to the English club is on the right track, if the latest report from Portugal is to be believed.
Wednesday’s Record explains Arsenal are in ‘advanced negotiations’ with the Liga BPI side to secure her services.
The Canada international has a year left on her deal but the Eagles are ready to ‘facilitate’ her transfer to the Women’s Super League side. The newspaper doesn’t mention anything about the fee Arsenal would be willing to offer Benfica to acquire the forward’s signature.
Benfica won their third league title this season and Lacasse was fundamental for her side in their latest success, scoring 21 goals and registering 13 assists from 21 matches. This also saw her bag the Best Player of the season award on Tuesday.
It’ll be interesting to see if this claim is backed up further in Portugal and also in the UK.
