Arsenal are about to compete for the signing of Atalanta star Rasmus Højlund, according to reports from Italy.
The information is brought by Tutto Atalanta, who, in an exclusive story, talk about the Gunners’ pursuit for the striker.
It’s said that Arsenal are ‘willing to shell out’ €50m to buy Højlund’s ‘talent’ at the end of the season.
The Gunners had many times been linked to Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic this year, but according to the report, their decision to chase the Atalanta player means they have switched their focus for now.
Arsenal should just be aware that they are not alone in that race, since Newcastle United are also interested in Højlund and keen on spending that €50m fee as well.
Atalanta spent €17.2m to sign the striker from Austrian side Sturm Graz last summer, and it turns out he’s having a very good first season in Italy, with eight goals and two assists in 25 appearances so far.
Since Højlund is just 20, it’s no wonder that other clubs are already looking at him, and Premier League sides, like Arsenal, are clearly impressed with what he has shown to date in Italy for them to be willing to spend so much on him so soon.
