In November, journalist Suleyman Öztürk reported Arsenal had Ajax’s Jorrel Hato on their radar. This claim was made a month after the defender revealed that he dreams of joining the Gunners.
The 18-year-old was promoted to the Dutch club’s first team in 2022, where he played with Jurriën Timber, who joined Arsenal last summer. Hato has been a regular this season and his displays haven’t gone unnoticed.
According to De Telegraaf, Arsenal are still showing interest in the centre-back, who can also be used as a left-back.
The Netherlands international has attracted interest from top Premier League sides, and among these, Mikel Arteta’s side are ‘willing to go furthest financially’ to secure his services.
His deal lasts until 2025 and the report states the player will soon sign an extension until 2028. The Eredivisie side hope to make it official before making a trip to England on Wednesday, where they face Aston Villa on Thursday.
Both Hato and his agent, Humphry Nijman, believe it’s best for him to continue in the Netherlands, and that has played part in the player reaching an agreement for the new contract.
Although Hato dreams of Arsenal, the renewal would make it difficult for the Gunners to try and sign him.
