Arsenal are showing interest in Athletico Paranaense star Vitor Roque and this has been covered in Brazil and Europe in the past few days.
Last Friday, Goal in Brazil reported that Gunners’ director, Edu Gasper, initiated contact with the striker’s entourage.
This was backed up by Sport on Monday, who explained the Arsenal chief has told Roque’s agent about his side’s willingness to sign the 17-year-old. It was also stated the Gunners are the most committed when it comes to securing the Brazil U20 international’s services.
Barcelona are among other European clubs in the mix to sign the teenager, who will turn 18 at the end of this month.
AS now state the La Liga side and Arsenal are ‘willing to do anything’ to sign the Brazilian. The player has a contract until 2027 but is likely to leave the club in one of the coming windows.
After several clubs, including Arsenal, showed interest, Athletico Paranaense president Mario Celso Petraglia accepted defeat at trying to keep Roque for a long time.
“There’s a race for Vitor Roque. We can’t afford what Europeans pay. We’ve already received calls and offers, but they haven’t arrived at our number. It’s still too far away,” he told Furacão Live, relayed by Globo Esporte.
