Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has instructed the club’s scouts to continue tracking Udinese youngster Jakub Jankto, according to claims in Italy. The Czech Republic midfielder was watched by Arsenal last season when he was on loan with Ascoli.
TMW have today reported Arsenal will continue to send scouts to Italy this season to monitor the development of the Czech Republic U21 international. The 20-year-old was in impressive form for Ascoli last season, and was a key player in helping the Serie B side dropping down to Lega Pro.
There were reports this summer Jankto could be returning to Ascoli for this season, but given his form Udinese have decided to keep him at the club, rather than loan him out again.
Last season we covered reports that Arsenal sent Tony Banfield to the Del Duca in March to watch Ascoli’s Serie B clash with Avellino, in order to get a lowdown on Jankto.
At the time it was claimed by the Ascoli media Arsenal were also looking at Jankto’s Ascoli teammate Federico Dimarco and Avellino’s Samuel Bastien.
