In what can be potentially seen as a boost for Arsenal ahead of their clash against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, four more players, on top of Leroy Sané, have been added to the doubtful list for the game by manager Thomas Tuchel.
BILD cover comments from the Bayern boss today, who has a number of injury concerns ahead of the meeting with Arsenal in the Champions League.
A report yesterday indicated Sane could be missing from the game as he had walked out of training in the last two days, only managing to do a ten-minute warm up in yesterday’s session.
That explained that the German international was still struggling with injuries and had failed to get fit during the international break, when he wasn’t in action because he was suspended.
He’s now been ruled out of the weekend game with Heidenheim but has been joined on the missing list by Manuel Neuer, who is still battling against a torn muscle fibre that he suffered during Germany training in Frankfurt two weeks ago.
Sane, meanwhile, is suffering from a new injury after already dealing with knee and groin problems in the last few weeks.
It means both are out for the weekend and touch and go for the clash with Arsenal, which Tuchel confirmed when asked about his squad status before also adding Kingsley Coman, Noussair Mazraoui and Aleksandar Pavlovic to his absentees.
“Manuel Neuer and Leroy Sané are not in the squad. They won’t be spared for Tuesday. They are not in the squad because it is not possible, so it is also a question mark for Tuesday,” he said.
“With Leroy, the pubic bone is the main problem. Aleksandar Pavlovic was already back in training (after tonsillitis) and caught an infection. He’s completely flat.
“There is no trend. We have to wait until Monday. I couldn’t say whether any of these five will be there on Tuesday.”
