It appears that Arsenal are currently in a ‘two-way match’ with Borussia Dortmund when it comes to the signing of Ivan Fresneda.
The right-back has become a hot topic on the transfer market over the past few months, and while a transfer was always looking likely, his potential next destination has changed a number of times.
TuttoMercatoWeb now claim that two clubs are left in the race, and those are Arsenal and the Bundesliga side.
Who will he join? Well, that’s up to Real Valladolid, according to the Italian outlet, who make it clear these are ‘decisive days’ for the player’s future.
As things stand, the full-back ‘awaits a call’ from the La Liga side, who will let him leave during the January transfer window once they reach an agreement with one of the two clubs.
While Fresneda ‘still has to find an agreement with the clubs’, TuttoMercatoWeb report that ‘once he receives a call from Valladolid’, his entourage are ‘ready to define one of the two paths’ with whomever gets their bid accepted.
This is also backed up by AS, who have similar information, naming Arsenal and Dortmund as the final two parties.
What is different, however, is that they add another detail suggesting that Valladolid ‘consider it interesting for Fresneda to stay on loan until the end of the season and that the transfer becomes effective in June’.
Whether that’s something Arsenal would agree to, though, remains to be seen, but the Spanish outlet do add that both Dortmund and the Gunners are options ‘valued positively by the player’.
