The Valencia press are getting so carried away with Francis Coquelin that it’s being treated as a potentially imminent transfer.
For example, buoyed on by Spanish radio reports, Deporte Valenciano report Coquelin could even play for Valencia against Deportivo La Coruna at the weekend.
A price is put at around €12m for the Arsenal midfielder, but it’s hoped that could be paid in the summer. Valencia would loan Coquelin now and then buy him from Arsenal in the summer.
That wouldn’t be a future purchase based on trust, but rather an obligation clause in any loan deal, making a permanent transfer automatic in the summer window.
Plaza Deportiva say they’ve learned the interest is real, and Valencia as a club aren’t hiding away from the rumours or moving to deny them. There’s said to be optimism at the La Liga side that a deal can be done.
They also go with the plan of a loan and a compulsory redemption clause.
