A few weeks ago, when the Italian media claimed that Arsenal were closing the signing of Grêmio winger Bitello, we said we’d better wait for the Brazilian press to confirm that.

It turns out that story was soon dismissed, and Goal Brasil now features an interesting update on the midfielder’s situation.

The outlet writes that Bitello is in the middle of a ‘career imbroglio’, as no offers have arrived for him this window.

It’s claimed that despite the promises from intermediaries who said they’d come up with bids from abroad, nothing has reached him or Grêmio so far.

The situation gets worse because Bitello doesn’t even speak to Marcelo Karan, who has a contract to represent him.

Arsenal’s interest is mentioned, along with Monaco’s, with Goal claiming that both clubs are still to show a formal offer for the transfer.

The most concrete situation seems to be the chase from Spartak Moscow, with them contacting Karan about a potential transfer.

Perhaps Arsenal used those intermediaries mentioned in the story, and the complicated situation only makes it unlikely that Bitello will move before the end of the transfer window.
