During the summer window, we saw countless stories in Brazil linking Grêmio midfielder Bitello to a move to Arsenal.
It was even claimed that a deal was close, as the Gunners were said to be very convinced about the signing after sending scouts to watch him.
The transfer never happened, though, and in case Arsenal still want Bitello, they may have to buy him from Russia. According to Zero Hora, the player is close to joining Zenit.
Grêmio are said to be accepting a €10m offer, and even though the player wasn’t keen on the move at first, he’s now ‘shaken’ by the personal terms on the table.
Zenit are said to be offering Bitello a salary which is worth ten times what he mikes in Brazil. He’s expected to answer by Tuesday, as the Russian transfer window closes this week.
It had always been said that €10m would be enough to take him from Grêmio, and Arsenal never paid the price, despite his entourage confirming interest from the Gunners.
Now we shall see how much he’ll be worth next year, in case he accepts the move.
