Arsenal summer signing Cristhian Mosquera has hailed Mikel Arteta and his coaching team for his strong start to life at the Emirates.
Semana cover comments from the defender today made to El Larguero in Spain after another impressive display this week in the 2-0 win over Athletic Club in the Champions League.
Mosquera joined Arsenal from Valencia in the summer as an alternative to William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes and was very much considered a long-term option for the Gunners to develop.
He’s instead thrown himself thrown into the deep end as an injury to Saliba has seen Arteta turn to him to fill the void.
The 21-year-old has done that ably, playing 85 minutes in the 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, then 90 minutes in the 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest and the defeat of Athletic Club this week.
He’s been earning rave reviews for his performances, with some believing that the €15m Arsenal paid to sign him from Valenica may be one of the bargain deals of the summer transfer window.
Mosquera is definitely pleased with his start to life at the Emirates and credits Arteta and his staff for the manner in which they’ve helped him.
“The fans have welcomed me very well, the team, the people at the club… In that sense, I’m handling it very well,” he said.
“He’s (Arteta) a coach who’s quite approachable, he helps me a lot, and the coaching staff are quite good. They help me with doubts and new things. You have to adapt, but the coaching staff handles that very well.”
