Arsenal have ‘stretched out the feelers’ for RB Leipzig defender Lukas Klostermann according to Fussball Transfers.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed rapid development in recent years, establishing himself as a first-team player at Leipzig and making his debut for Germany in March, with manager Joachim Löw praising his performance in that game.
His rise has caught the attention of several European clubs, and Fussball Transfers say Arsenal, as well as Atlético Madrid, are keen on him.
The Gunners interest is nothing new, after reports they were scouting the defender = during the European U21 championship’s in the summer, but the suggestion they have reached out suggests their interest in the player has grown since then.
Leipzig certainly seem to be aware of the interest in their man and want to sign him up to a new deal.
Klostermann is currently contracted until 2021, but they are keen to extend beyond that, something sporting director Markus Krösche confirmed to Bild.
“We said yes that we would like to extend with Lukas Klostermann,” he said.
“We are also in exchanges. But we have no pressure there. It’s important for me to talk to the guys early enough to give them time to think about it.
“Of course, it’s always about the money, as with every other person. But with Lukas, for example, it’s also about making a fundamental decision. Can he take the next step with us? Can he achieve his goals with us? I think we’ll find a solution there. “
