Arsenal wanting to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk in the winter market has already been confirmed by Shakhtar Donetsk assistant sporting director, Carlo Nicolini, on December 20th.
Reports have indicated the Gunners have made a €40m+ bid while Nicolini insisted earlier this week they value their star at €100m.
“As we’ve always said, to deal with Mudryk you need to make an important offer. Arsenal may have made such an offer, but there is a negotiation. Players have been sold that clubs wanted to sell and that we believe are no stronger than Mudryk with a valuation of around €100 million, so the €60m is not enough,” Nicolini told Calciomercato.it.
Two days ago, TuttoMercatoWeb reported Arsenal could increase the offer to around €50m to secure the Ukraine international’s services.
Mikel Arteta’s side, who are still keen to sign the winger, are ‘surprised’ with Shakhtar Donetsk’s stance to let go of Mudryk.
That’s according to Sportanalytic.com, who state Arsenal leaders ‘still cannot understand’ why the Ukrainian side want ‘as much as €100m’ for the 21-year-old.
The Gunners’ arguments for their case is that Mudryk has only made eight appearances for Ukraine and does not have the experience of playing in Europe’s top five leagues so far, and they are using these two factors to argue his asking price should be lower than €100m.
It will be interesting to see whether Arsenal can convince Shakhtar Donetsk to lower their demands to sign the attacker, going forward, as the Ukrainian side seem intent on making as much money from their star.
