Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has told AS that he’s not worried about the competition he could face at the Emirates next season.
The Brazil international finished the 2023/24 season with eight goals and five assists from 44 games.
The forward is currently with his national team, preparing for the Copa América, and this gave AS a chance to have a chat with him. They first asked him what the Gunners need to do to win the title.
Arsenal were in the race until the final game of last season, before finishing second, two points behind winners Manchester City. The 22-year-old remains confident Mikel Arteta’s side will compete for the Premier League title again next season.
“I think we have to continue as we have been doing. It’s not easy to be champions in the Premier League, even more so if you have City or Liverpool in front of you. We will certainly go into next season stronger and with more confidence to try and win the title,” he said.
Arsenal will look to strengthen their squad in the summer window to improve their chances of winning the title. The Gunners are reportedly looking to bring in an attacker, and if this happens, the South American will have more competition next season.
AS say that there’s been a talk of a ‘revolution’ at the north London club, especially in attack, this summer.
When asked if he’s worried about this, Martinelli explained: “The people who play at Arsenal are very good. The club has to have the best players to have a chance of being champions. We have an outstanding team, with many players of incredible quality.
“The ones who define the issue of signings are Edu Gaspar and Arteta. It depends on them. We have to work on the field and leave that part of the signings to them.”
