Arsenal look set to pocket €6m from the sale of Pablo Marí to Monza after he met the requirements in his loan deal.
That’s according to AS, who say that the defender is now a Monza player ‘for all intents and purposes’ after hitting certain requirements.
They newspaper explains that Marí’s loan deal includes a €6m purchase option for Monza to sign him on a permanent basis from Arsenal at the end of the season.
This clause was subject to a set of requirements, with one of them being that he played in at least 50% of Monza’s matches this season. The second of those was that Monza stay in Serie A.
One of those clauses has now been fulfilled as Marí has played in 21 of a possible 40 games for Monza this season, thus passing the first requirement.
In terms of the second, that also appears to be on its way to completion as Monza are currently 13th in Serie A and 15 points above the relegation zone.
Thus the second clause looks extremely likely to be reached and a permanent move activated, at which point Arsenal will receive the €6m they paid to sign him from Flamengo in January 2020 back to bolster their funds this summer.
