The Brazilian media today shares some interesting updates on Arsenal’s chase for Palmeiras midfielder Danilo.
Journalist Jorge Nicola has a video on Youtube where he claims to have spoken to the player’s representatives.
There, he reveals he asked whether Arsenal, who bid €25m for the player on the summer deadline day, have been back in touch for the signing.
Danilo’s staff told Nicola that the Gunners ‘continue monitoring’ the player’s staff and should place an official bid after the World Cup group stage.
Even though Palmeiras president Leila Pereira had been claiming in the summer she’d not sell him, it’s said that situation has changed, as she believes it’s time to negotiate a player’s exit, which could be Danilo. According to Nicola, the 21-year-old could be sold for €25m, what Arsenal are said to have previously offered.
As we’ve previously explained, there are a few reasons why the Brazilian club would accept that offer now.
Firstly, because the season came to an end and they don’t need to worry about losing him in the middle of the campaign. Secondly, due to their financial situation, which will force them to sell one or two players. And finally, because Danilo hasn’t been doing great in the past few months, so it’s unlikely they’ll get much better offers.
