The Argentine media today reveals Arsenal’s interest in Boca Juniors midfielder Ezequiel Fernandez.
The information comes form website El Crack Deportivo, who says the Gunners are keeping a close watch on the player’s performances.
It’s said that Arsenal sent scouts to Venezuela, where they’ll watch Fernandez in action with Argentina in the Pre-Olympic tournament.
The story claims that besides the Gunners, other European clubs such as Benfica, Inter Milan and Sevilla are also keeping tabs on the midfielder.
Boca Juniors are worried about this situation, because earlier this month, they saw Valentin Barco triggering his own release clause to complete a move to Brighton & Hove Albion.
The report claims the Argentine side will then demand €15m for Fernandez’s departure, and there’s no information on whether Arsenal or the other interested clubs would like to pay that amount.
It’s natural that big European clubs all have scouts in the U-23 tournament, so it’s no surprise that the Gunners will be there. Now it’ll really be interesting if there’s some special attention towards the Boca Juniors player.
