Earlier today we covered a report from La Voix du Nord, which stated Gabriel Magalhães’ priority this summer is to sign for Arsenal. He’d narrowed his options down to two clubs, the Gunners and Napoli, but preferred a move to the Premier League side.

Napoli weren’t giving up, and with nothing signed with Arsenal, were prepared to wait and see if they could have the final word in this matter.

Gazzetta dello Sport have it very differently. The Italian newspaper reports Gabriel has a ‘moral agreement’ with Napoli over a move to the club. Having reached an agreement with Gennaro Gattuso’s side, the defender was simply waiting for them to deposit €25m with Lille.

Napoli can’t do that just yet, and need to resolve the future of Kalidou Koulibaly and others. Given this has all been dragging on some time, Gazzetta say Gabriel’s agent has put a two week deadline on the situation.

Should Napoli not have paid up by then, then the Lille player will pick another club… and that’s where Arsenal come in. The London side are ‘ready to pay €30m’ for Gabriel, however, Gazzetta believe they can only do that if the Brazilian gives up on Napoli.

So, Lille’s local media believe Arsenal is Gabriel’s first choice, whereas in Italy various media outlets insist it’s Napoli.
