Unlike the rest of the top four, Arsenal don’t have a lot of money to spend this summer and as a result, loan deals are looking like a way of getting things done.

One player who has been heavily linked is Dani Ceballos, the young Real Madrid midfielder who was key to Spain winning the U21 European Championships this summer.

The Gunners are keen on signing him up and Madrid had told him to pick between them and Tottenham, who are also keen.

The La Liga giants weren’t bothered where he goes because they believe he’ll enjoy the same level of development.

ABC Sevilla cover Ceballos’ future today and say that a move to Arsenal could even be finalised this week.

They report that Unai Emery has asked Arsenal’s owner to ‘take the reigns of the matter’ and close a deal with Florentino Perez, using a friendly between the two teams this weeks to hold a meeting and get things done.

The deal will see Ceballos head to the Emirates on loan, without a purchase option, and the Gunners will pay his salary in full for the year. This ‘fits perfectly’ with Madrid, so it’s wonder the clubs haven’t got this over the line yet.

ABC don’t mention Ceballos’ take on the move but given he wants to play more this year and knows there’s no place short-term at Madrid, a loan move makes sense for him personally as well.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham have anything left to say on the matter.
