Athletic star Nico Williams has been linked with a move to a few clubs, including Arsenal.
Recent claims in the English press have talked about the Gunners’ interest in the winger and the Spanish press now provides the latest on this case.
According to Spanish journalist Pipi Estrada, Arsenal are keen on signing the 21-year-old. He was a guest on El Chiringuito, who relayed this information through X, formerly known as Twitter.
The journalist claims Mikel Arteta’s side are ‘pressing’ for the 21-year-old. On December 1st, the Spain international signed a new deal until 2027.
Despite this, Estrada claims the La Liga side have a feeling that the player is ‘going to leave’ them at the end of this season.
Arsenal have a firm interest in securing Williams’ services in the summer but they may not the be the only club after him, if he were to decide to leave the Basque club.
The Spaniard’s earlier clause was at €50m and Athletic didn’t communicate his new clause when the attacker signed an extension, although there will be one in his contract.
Williams has scored five goals and registered 10 assists from 24 games in all competitions this season, and has become one of the more coveted players in Spain these days.
