Arsenal are reportedly preparing an offer for the Sporting and Portuguese national team goalkeeper Rui Patrício.
It actually comes as a surprise that the French and not the Portuguese media are reporting that, although we can be sure it will be in the Lisbon newspapers tomorrow morning. Maybe with more details.
Patricio has been linked with a Premier League move since winning the Euro last summer. Crystal Palace, Everton and Leicester City were all said to want him. However, none of them were able to find a deal. Reports from that time said the player would only leave for at least €20m, and we agree that Sporting wouldn’t let a star go for less than that.
Patricio has never closed the doors to a Premier League move, and Arsenal would definitely be an interesting option for him. Maybe they could find a deal by offering a few million more.
Arsene Wenger currently has Petr Cech as his first choice, with David Ospina in reserve and Wojciech Szczęsny on loan at AS Roma.
