Arsenal fans shouldn’t about Gabriel Magalhães’ current fitness situation in the international break.
Even though the defender was subbed off in Brazil’s match against Bolivia on Friday, Globo Esporte now reports that he’s fine to play the next game.
The outlet writes that following muscle pain in his right thigh, Magalhães underwent ‘imaging tests’ and they didn’t show any kind of injury.
The Arsenal centre-back is therefore set to start against Peru tonight, holding his place in defence alongside Paris Saint Germain’s Marquinhos.
This is a very important time for Gabriel Magalhães with the national team. That’s because he’s previously had four call-ups and didn’t play during any of them, and had been missing in recent call-ups.
In another story, Globo Esporte recalls that the defender previously asked to be left out of a list, so he could attend the birth of his daughter, and that was a reason for controversy at the time. He hadn’t been called up since then, having missed the World Cup.
Now continuing to show good form at Arsenal, he has a chance to hold the spot under the new manager Fernando Diniz.
