It now seems it’s just a matter of time until Pablo Mari is officially signed by Udinese.

According to Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport, only the medicals are left for the Serie A side to announce the defender’s arrival.

The examinations are set to take place on Tuesday in Roma. Then the ‘dry loan’ will be confirmed by Udinese.

The Italian club had already lost two defenders in the January transfer window, and are now replacing them with Filip Benkovic and Pablo Mari, both arriving from the Premier League.

Pablo Mari only made three appearances for Arsenal this season, the last of them in September, and was clearly not in Mikel Arteta’s plans for the future.

Even though his former club Flamengo were linked to him for the past couple of months, it was also claimed that the defender was more interested in staying in Europe.

His contract with the Gunners only expires in 2024, and in case the six-month loan is confirmed, it won’t take long until the London side have to find another solution for him.
