Christian Nørgaard ended his six-year spell at Brentford when he left them for Arsenal last summer.

The Denmark international picked up an injury in August and was on the sidelines for over a month. This also meant he missed the national team’s matches in September.

Nørgaard made his debut for Arsenal in their Champions League win over Athletic and played the full 90 minutes in the EFL Cup win over Port Vale.

Bold have spoken to the Arsenal player, who expressed his desire to eventually return to Brøndby, where he had a spell between 2013 and 2018.

The former Bees man had previously talked about his intention to finish his career at Brøndby.

Bold say the 31-year-old’s ‘unexpected’ move to Arsenal in July won’t change his plans.  He still has a ‘dream’ of ending his time at his former club, it just may take longer.

His contract at the Emirates lasts until 2027, with an option for another year. For now, his plan is fulfil his contract with Mikel Arteta’s side and then return to Denmark.

“Whether it will be two or three years at Arsenal has not been decided, but we will return to Denmark when the contract expires. I can guarantee that Arsenal will be my last club abroad. I still want to return to Brøndby when my contract with Arsenal expires,” he said.

“My contract is for two years with an option for an additional year. And I would be happy to stay at Arsenal for the extra year if things develop in that direction. If it turns out that it wasn’t the right fit, then we’ll return to Denmark after two years.”

Denmark manager Brian Riemer included him in the squad for this international break, and this has pleased Nørgaard.
