Despite attempts to look for a way out from Nottingham Forest in January, Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares ended up staying at City Ground.
The Portuguese managed a few starts under Nuno Espírito Santo in January before picking up an unknown injury, which has kept him out since.
The defender will end up returning to Arsenal at the end of the season, at which point Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar will need to find him a new landing spot, with Corriere dello Sport hinting that Lazio could be ready to welcome him.
The reason for that is the fact Igor Tudor has taken over there after Maurizio Sarri stepped away, and the Croatian manager had the Gunners man under his tutelage at Marseille last season.
Corriere look at some of the transfer plans Lazio might have in mind for the coming season and include the Arsenal player in their list.
It’s recalled Tudor and Tavares worked together in the south of France, and with him still being only 24 years of age, he would be a good long-term signing for the Serie A club.
Not only that, but Igli Tare, their former director of football, also tried to sign him for Lazio back in 2021 before the Gunners swooped in.
His contract at Arsenal, which lasts until 2025, means the Premier League club will need to make an important decision on him this summer, and with him ‘not in the plans’ at the Emirates, a permanent transfer away would make the most sense.
