Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland Niles has been spotted at Ciampino airport in Rome ahead of him joining Roma.

That’s according to journalist Gianluigi Longari, who reports that a deal is getting closer to being completed.

Maitland-Niles has been linked with a move to Roma over the last week or so, with reports in England and Italy stating a deal was in place for a loan move to the Italian capital.

Earlier today, we covered a report that stated he was flying to Italy today ahead of the move and was expected to land around 3.30pm local time.

Longari now provides an update on that stating the Arsenal man and intermediary have now landed in Rome to finalise the deal.

He says the pair need to complete the ‘final paperwork’ on the transfer before he will be available to Jose Mourinho for the rest of the season.

Intermediary Roberto de Fanti is the man alongside him, with Longari reporting it is he who ‘closed the operation’ alongside Maitland-Niles’ agents.

Longari also has a video of the Arsenal man at the airport for added authenticity, with this one seemingly as close to being completed as a deal can be.
