Despite the fact that Fiorentina never made the loan deal for Lucas Torreira a permanent transfer, that doesn’t mean the Arsenal player might not end up there in the end.

The midfielder, who was left out of the Gunners’ pre-season tour, returned to Florence this week, but FiorentinaNews.com are reporting he ‘hasn’t left yet’.

The Arsenal player ‘trained in a city gym this morning’ while his teammates are in the United States, and the website claims he ‘still has no contact with any team’.

What works in Fiorentina’s favour is that ‘he has an extraordinary relationship’ with the club’s manager, Vincenzo Italiano, between whom ‘contacts are still close, so much so that the two speak on the phone almost daily’.

Meanwhile, in Spain, it’s stated that Torreira is a ‘desire’ for Gennaro Gattuso, who recently took over at Valencia.

The interest from the La Liga side was already known, as the Arsenal player’s agent admitted to a pre-agreement already existing.

AS report Torreira and Matteo Politano are at the ‘top of the shopping list’, as the club are looking for a new midfielder and winger.

Whether they land either remains to be seen, but it’s clear that despite nothing happening so far, the Arsenal is likely to have options sooner rather than later.
