Jorginho’s contract at Arsenal lasts until June and his future beyond this season needs to be clarified.

Flamengo have tried to sign the midfielder before the Brazilian transfer window closes on February 28th, but he won’t leave the Gunners immediately. Recent claims from Brazil stated they intend to sign the Arsenal player for free in the summer window.

Two days ago, Bolavip Brasil reported he rejected an offer from Qatar in order to join the Brazilian club. They also stated Flamengo sporting director José Boto has scheduled a meeting with the 33-year-old in March.

RTI Esporte now states the former Chelsea man has a verbal agreement in place with the South American club.

Their title says ‘family pressure’ could prevent him from joining them in the next window.

The Brazil-born Italy international’s family feels it’s best for him to continue his career in Europe, preferably Serie A. Therefore, the Arsenal midfielder has ‘backed down’ and is unlikely to sign for Flamengo.

Filipe Luís has prioritised Jorginho’s arrival and Boto has been working on this operation. His family’s pressure would now cool his potential arrival on a free transfer.
