The talks for Granit Xhaka’s move from Arsenal to Bayer Leverkusen seem to be moving forward.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb today, the midfielder is ‘close’ to an agreement with the Bundesliga side.
The outlet writes that Xhaka has ‘asked for time’, and is set to give a response to Bayer Leverkusen’s offer before Saturday.
The German club are reportedly offering the Arsenal player a salary worth a little over €2m per season, after tax, with a contract until 2027.
TuttoMercatoWeb says Xhaka’s positive response should be ‘just a matter of time’, since he makes €3m after tax with the Gunners, which expires in 2024, so it wouldn’t be such a big drop.
The website also brings some news on the talks between the clubs, claiming Bayer Leverkusen are still to match the price demanded by Arsenal.
The Gunners’ request is said to be around €10m, and according to the story, the Bundesliga side are still to ‘unblock’ that issue.
Now if Bayer actually have those advanced talks with the player, then we should expect them to be able to afford the deal. Xhaka was an important starter for Arsenal this season, and it already looks like a bargain price.
