Arsenal are in the mix for Barcelona youngster Aleix Garrido, according to a ‘confidential’ report from Friday’s Sport.
It’s claimed Premier League sides are paying attention to the 19-year-old and Arsenal are among them.
Garrido joined the Catalan club’s academy in 2012 and was promoted to their first team last season, coming off the bench against Elche on April 1st.
That was the midfielder’s only appearance for Xavi Hernández’s side. Later that month, he signed a deal until 2025 at the Camp Nou.
It’s said several important clubs have been ‘informed’ about the Spain U19 international’s ‘benefits, evolution and capacity for growth’.
Sport say ‘one of them is Arsenal’ and they don’t mention any other club apart from Mikel Arteta’s side.
Although the Gunners ‘pay attention’ to the teenager, his dream is to succeed at Barcelona.
This would make it difficult for Arsenal to carry out any potential approach and they’ll have to convince Garrido, if they wish to bring him to the Emirates.
For now, the London club, like others, have been ‘informed’ about Garrido’s profile and potential.
