Mesut Ozil’s transfer from Arsenal to Fenerbahce is in the ‘crucial phase’, but the timing of the move is still being negotiated.
That’s according to Sky Sports Germany, who say the potential deal is ‘not yet fixed’ but things are progressing on that front.
According to their information, Fenerbahce have now submitted a ‘financial concept’ for Ozil’s contract and probably convinced the midfielder to make the switch.
Their preference would be to sign the German immediately, and negotiations are underway with Arsenal to try and make that happen.
For it to, the Turkish side would need Arsenal to let Ozil go on a free transfer this month and, potentially, pay part of his salary until the summer as well.
Ozil, for his part, can easily imagine staying in London until the summer and his agent insisted yesterday that they are yet to find a final agreement with any club.
Things are clearly progressing, though, and with Fenerbahce keen to sign him this month he may end up needing to make a decision.
