Even though the recent reports from Italy have been claiming that Arsenal are in lead for Bologna star Riccardo Calafiori, it seems the Gunners should still worry about the competition from Chelsea.
That’s today said by CalcioMercato.it, who shares a story with the latest on the defender’s exit from the Serie A side.
It’s claimed that since Juventus can’t afford Calafiori’s signing, it’s really Arsenal and Chelsea who stand as the main contenders to land him.
The Gunners are said to be in negotiations with the player’s entourage, and have already shown they can offer him a salary worth between €3m and €3.5m a year. That will be after tax, as it’s the way football salaries are reported in Italy.
Arsenal, however, must ‘be careful’ about the competition from Chelsea. It’s said the Blues are ready to ‘enter the game’ later in the transfer window.
CalcioMercato.it sound very sure that Calafiori is leaving Bologna, who demand between €40m and €50m for his transfer. It’s now up to Gunners and Blues to place their bids on the table and see who will end up taking the 22-year-old to London.
