That Arsenal will need a striker come the end of the season is no secret, what with Alexandre Lacazette seemingly ready to run down his contract, and the prospect of getting ahead of the curve by signing one in January continues to circulate.
Dusan Vlahovic appears to be the favourite for the job, as the Serbian has been finding the back of the net regularly for Fiorentina over the past couple of seasons, and his reluctance to sign a new deal in Italy has sent tails wagging.
There is a slight preference from the player to finish the season in Florence before seeking a new club in the summer, which is what Corriere Fiorentino touch on on Monday, explaining that ‘the original intention to sell’ the goalscorer ‘immediately is fading’.
And that’s without mentioning the ‘decisive willingness of the player to stay until June and then choose a destination’.
However, ‘only an indispensable offer like the €80m that Arsenal would be ready to present could blow the bank’, and even then, Vlahovic’s decision ‘remains discriminating’.
Corriere Fiorentino aren’t the only ones pushing the Gunners’ interest on Monday, with Gazetta dello Sport reporting he is ‘in the crosshairs’ of the London side and many others.
