Arsenal youngster Marcelo Flores has declared his desire to become a ‘legend’ at the club as he continues to impress in the youth ranks.
The highly-rated Mexican joined Arsenal’s youth set up on a free transfer from Ipswich in March last year and was promoted to their Under 18 side this summer.
He’s been impressing for the Gunners since then, with three goals and one assist in nine games in the U18 Premier League so far.
Those are the kind of numbers that will see him quickly moving up the ranks should he maintain them and the 17-year-old is certainly hoping that will happen, highlighting his aims to Goal Espana.
“Right now I don’t know (when I will debut), let’s see how things turn out, I want to play for Arsenal and become a club legend,” he said.
“It was like a dream, I couldn’t believe everything that was happening, after training it went well for me, I went out to play as normal.
“I am delighted, enjoying all the moments that I am living with Arsenal.”
Fortunately for Flores, chances for youngsters are at a high at Arsenal at the minute, with current manager Mikel Arteta having shown a desire to give them opportunities if they are good enough.
Several youngsters have already proven they are, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Joe Willock, Reiss Nelson and Eddie Nketiah all being given their chance to impress.
Of those it is Saka who has done so the most, establishing himself as a regular in the first-team with several impressive performances to date.
His rapid rise has not gone unnoticed by Flores, who is keen to follow a similar path to the Arsenal first-team.
“I watch Bukayo, he is a very good role model for me, he is the best person to speak to,” he added.
“He is a very good person to see what happens; you are working hard in football and where you want to go.
“He sent me many messages; he wants to share with me experiences that he has lived to know how things are and be ready for what is coming.”
