Arsenal youngster Marcelo Flores will remain at Real Oviedo this month after the Gunners failed to find a suitable alternative destination for him.

That’s according to Cadena Cope, who say that a lack of ‘convincing offers’ means the youngster will continue where he is until the end of the season.

The Mexican player had been linked with a move away from Oviedo this month after struggling for gametime at the Spanish club since joining them on loan from Arsenal in the summer.

They had ‘activated the search’ for a better destination for him as he looks to add minutes and experience but were not able to find a club that fitted their ‘expectations’.

Unless that situation changes in the last few hours of deadline day, something which they are not expecting to happen at Arsenal or Oviedo, then Flores will finish loan until the end of the season, despite only being a secondary player at best.

His loan deal has not been a successful one for all involved. Oviedo had planned for it to be a two-year one if things went well but Flores has barely featured all season and his last appearance was in December.

Arsenal’s failure to find an alternative arrangement that suits them, though, means he will remain where he is until the summer at least.
