Two days ago, Sport stated Real Sociedad star Mikel Merino has everything in place to join Arsenal.
The midfielder has a year left on his deal, and hasn’t accepted a renewal offer so far. La Real president Jokin Aperribay has said his side are open to selling him this summer if he asks for a transfer.
On Wednesday, there were reports in the UK explaining the 28-year-old would be ideal for Arsenal, while claims elsewhere mentioned a verbal offer from the Gunners.
An earlier report from the same newspaper had stated Mikel Arteta’s side will focus on the Spain international once they sign Riccardo Calafiori. Earlier this week, the Italian sealed a move to the Emirates and Arsenal are now working to sign the Euro 2024 winner.
Sources close to the operation have informed the outlet that Arsenal have made their first offer of more than €30m to the San Sebastian club.
