Arsenal have repeatedly been named as one of the clubs pursuing FC Porto’s Hector Herrera.

The Mexican midfielder’s contract expires in June and until he signs a renewal with the Portuguese club, the rumours will continue. Indeed, the longer it goes on the more rumours there’ll be, and with some justification.

Arsenal have been linked with Herrera by media across Europe and also in Mexico.

In mid September it was claimed the Gunners were being lured by the idea of a free transfer next summer. Things then snowballed and it all got a little carried away when incorrect and confused claims came from Mexico of a deal being close for the 28 year old.

The interest would be no surprise, and to back it all up… an official from the club was spotted at Porto’s match against Galatasaray on Wednesday evening, reports A Bola.

Porto won the match 1-0 and Herrera captained his side, putting in a good performance before being taken off in the 89th minute.
