The slant in Spain on Arsenal wanting to sign Neto from Barcelona this month is negative on the whole, however it feels like there’s a possibility of it happening should the London club and goalkeeper push hard enough for it.

Over the weekend, Ronald Koeman confirmed Neto’s representatives have spoken to Barca about an exit in the January window, and he talked down a move if no replacement can come in.

Mundo Deportivo give a little hope, and they say Arsenal’s interest in the signing continues. The Catalan newspaper states the 31-year-old is represented by Kia Joorabchian, with the agent having very close ties to both Arsenal and Edu Gaspar.

That could be where the interest has originated, with Joorabchian offering the option to the Premier League club.

Mundo say Barcelona will only consider a permanent sale, with a loan ruled out, and are looking for a good amount. Having paid Valencia €26m plus a further €9m in potential bonus payments, Barca still have €16.25m of the fee to amortise.

Such a situation means they’d have to receive more than that €16.25m in order to be able to record a profit on their accounts, anything less would go down as a loss.

Therefore, if Arsenal are truly determined they need a figure above that amount.
