Manuel Locatelli snubbed Arsenal to join Juventus from Sassuolo in the summer of 2021, on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy.
Earlier this month, Massimiliano Allegri said he prefers Leandro Paredes, Adrien Rabiot and Paul Pogba in midfield, with Locatelli first choice to replace one of them.
Calciomercato relay this while discussing the 24-year-old’s situation and state he could be an option for Arsenal again in the coming windows.
Juve have endured a difficult start to the season, and it is not clear whether Allegri will be at the club next season. In the event a new manager comes in, the Italy international may be given a fresh opportunity at the Turin club.
At the same time, the Serie A side have to improve their finances and one way to do that is by making an ‘expensive sacrifice’. Locatelli’s sale could help in this regard as the report states he could be ‘tempting’ for several clubs. Only the Gunners are mentioned.
It is ‘no mystery’ that Arsenal are ‘thinking of trying a new lunge’ for Locatelli, either in January or next summer. Having failed to sign him in 2021, the north London club would like to ‘make a new attempt’ to take the player.
A potential deal will depend on what Mikel Arteta’s side are ready to put on the table and also Juve’s plans for the future.
