Over the past few months, it’s been repeated a number of times that both Arsenal and Leicester City are interested in Ismaël Doukouré.
Dubbed the next Dayot Upamecano due to the fact he’s a centre-back and has come through at Valenciennes, just like the soon-to-be Bayern Munich player, the 17-year-old has caught the eye with some impressive performances for the first-team at a young age.
Potentially set to be the club’s record sale, the Gunners and Foxes target is finding himself at the centre of a heated battle for his services, with multiple clubs after him.
Foot Mercato in France report that Strasbourg in Ligue 1 are the latest to join the fray, recently meeting the player’s father, who was thrilled by what they had to say.
The website then remind their readers Arsenal, Leicester, Borussia Dortmund and even RB Leipzig are all also suitors of his, with it being made clear that Doukouré ‘isn’t necessarily looking for a big contract’.
Instead, he wants to prioritise an ‘ambitious and coherent project’, which Strasbourg have seemingly been able to give him.
We’ll have to wait and see with this one, but it might be a bit too soon for the player to make the leap to the Premier League, judging by what he’s looking for, but perhaps either Mikel Arteta or Brendan Rodgers can prove extra convincing and sway his and his father’s minds?
