On Friday, we covered reports from Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg which said the ‘poker has started’ for Arsenal to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea.

It was said there are ‘concrete talks’ for the 24-year-old to head to the Emirates Stadium, but also made clear that this would be a slow process.

Well, Plettenberg is now back with Arsenal ‘leading the race’ update on Havertz’s situation, and it’s not completely positive for Arsenal.

It’s claimed that even though the player was ‘absolutely no target’ for Bayern Munich in recent weeks, the Bundesliga giants have just changed their mind.

Plettenberg claims Bayern have Havertz as a ‘top and feasible’ alternative for Randal Kolo Muani, for whom the pursuit is nearly off. The German club reportedly already gathered information on the conditions to sign the Chelsea player.

Arsenal are not ruled out of the race, with the reporter saying that the Gunners are still ‘leading’ it. Still, with the Bavarian club coming strong for the signing, perhaps that should be a reason for Mikel Arteta’s side to start worrying.
