Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona transfer rumours provide opportunities for lots of stories, including who could replace the Brazilian at Anfield. There’s already a growing list of suggestions, despite Liverpool’s insistence they’re not selling Coutinho, and Thomas Lemar can now be added to that list.

The AS Monaco wide player has been strongly linked with Arsenal this summer, with Arsene Wenger’s side making a series of unsuccessful bids for the player. France’s Le10 Sport say that Arsenal remain ‘in the lead’ for Lemar, but are now joined by Premier League competition.

Liverpool are interested, should Coutinho move to Barcelona, but haven’t done anything concrete yet about that interest. There’s been no Liverpool contact with either Lemar’s entourage or Monaco, and it’s just at the idea stage.

For Lemar to Liverpool to take off, even if the claims are correct, Neymar needs to move to PSG, be replaced by Coutinho at Barcelona, and, in the meantime, Arsenal not come to an agreement to sign their long term target.

And that’s all dependent on Monaco actually agreeing to a sale this summer. It’s safe to call this one a long shot.
