One of Napoli’s better players last season, things aren’t going so smoothly for Lorenzo Insigne this season.
Since Arkadiusz Milik’s severe injury, the Serie A club have seen their form drop rather drastically, and the 2-1 loss against title rivals Juventus only added to that.
Missing a penalty in the Champions League against Besiktas, Insigne was in tears, and the images circulated all over Europe, followed by rumours of Liverpool interest for the Italian forward.
Il Messaggero on Monday add to the speculation of an exit with an article on their website claiming that contract renewal talks are at a standstill between club and player, with the wage demands being the most important stumbling block.
Asking for just under £80k/week, the winger is currently asking for too much from Napoli, and Il Messaggero claim the queue forming for the player’s services is growing ever long, with Arsenal, Tottenham and Wolfsburg now all joining Jürgen Klopp.
Neither of the three Premier League sides would have any issue matching Insigne’s demands, and with all three clubs in great form at the moment, the choice wouldn’t be an easy one.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham are all within three points of each other in the top five, with Spurs the only team in the Premier League to still be unbeaten after 10 games.
That could change rather quickly next weekend, though, as an away trip to the Emirates beckons.
